Every time a student asks about academic forgiveness, I can’t help but have this image go through my mind.
At my school we have three different options that fall under the category of academic forgiveness: Retaking classes, wiping one or two semesters, or wiping the entire transcript of all grades. The latter two options require 3 or 5 years to pass respectively. However, I have had a few students who are surprised that we don’t have a “freshman forgiveness” policy that will allow them to clear out their first semester or two if they tank the first year. Not sure if this sort of thing even exists at other schools.
I hate to have two weeks without comics, but it’s just going to have to happen. My second son just joined the world, and needless to say he takes precedence over drawing comics. I’ll have something great for when the strip returns next week.
One day when my life normalizes (does that actually ever happen?) I’ll be able to keep posting comics on a consistent day of the week. I started out posting on Mondays at the beginning, moved to Wednesdays to work better with my schedule, and now I’m having to move comics to Thursdays. I’m not even sure if anyone really cares, but I wanted to at least give everyone the heads up if you were actually expecting a comic on certain days.
It happens every semester, but this one seems to be rougher than usual. I have too many projects and not enough time to get everything done. Unfortunately that means that there won’t be another Alternate University comic until Dec. 19. I’ll be doing my best to post some filler content such as the cartoon I posted today from my time with the Wake Up & Dream initiative last week. Thanks for understanding, and I hope to have some good end of the semester and Christmas comics in a couple of weeks.
